Do You Know the Signs of Stroke?

Each year approximately 700,000 people experience a new or recurrent stroke, making stroke the number one cause of disability and the number four cause of death in America today.

If identified and treated early, patients who suffer a stroke may recover with no residual affects from stroke. Receiving medical care from highly trained specialists, such as those at the Sutter East Bay Neuroscience Institute, greatly increases the chances of full recovery.

    Learn to recognize stroke symptoms

Using the easy mnemonic device "FAST" to remember stroke symptoms can help expedite medical and surgical stroke intervention, and increasing the chances of survival and a full recovery. If the stroke symptoms come on abruptly or are one-sided, CALL 9-1-1 immediately for emergency treatment.
