Neurointerventional Program
Neurointerventional care uses microcatheters, similar to cardiac catheters but smaller, in minimally invasive procedures to diagnose and treat vascular diseases in the brain. Eden’s neurointerventional suite specifically diagnoses and treats aneurysms, vascular stenosis, stroke, and other major neurological diseases.
Neurointerventional technology allows for more comprehensive views of neurovascular structures. It also reduces the amount of trauma to the brain and radiation exposure to the patient.
Until recently, open surgery was often the only option for conditions such as aneurysms, vascular disease and tumors in the brain. However, breakthrough developments in medicine now make it possible for these same conditions to be treated with neurointerventional procedures.
The neurointerventional suite also represents a interdisciplinary approach
as the neurointerventionalist works closely with the neurosurgeon,
anesthesiologist, primary care physician and radiologist to develop the optimal treatment plan for each individual seen for neurointerventional services.
